Star Trek Gets Dark

Alright Star Trek fans, get your geek on and get ready to see the next installment of J. J. Abrams’ Star Trek series, Star Trek: Into Darkness.

When we last saw our futuristic space explorers, Spock’s mother was dead, the bad guy was blow out of the…universe and Kirk didn’t get the girl. One of these things doesn’t belong, right? Not when Abrams and writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are on the job. And to tell you the truth, people liked it!

So where are our heroes now? A new villain rears their ugly, from the inside. That villain is Kahn, a superhuman of sorts, portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey). If you’re wondering where else you’ve seen him then check out his IMDB profile here:

Captain James T. Kirk (Chris Pine, This Means War) sets out to find and destroy Khan after he orchestrates an attack on Kirk’s home planet. Joining him is the beautiful and strong, Uhura (Zoe Saldana, Avatar), Dr. Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy (Karl Urban, Red), the witty and blunt, Scotty (Simon Pegg, Shaun of the Dead), and the Vulcan-Human hybrid, Spock (Zachary Quinto, Heroes).

This is bound to be one of the biggest summer blockbusters. It will more than likely have no issues blowing away Iron 3, which brought in $72.5M this past weekend or The Great Gatsby, which brought in $50.1M.

If you’ve been living under a rock and have no idea what to expect then you can see the trailer here:

And here is the link to their Facebook page, which is a great way to keep up with the film:

This film is rated PG-13 and is 132 minutes. It also stars John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Bruce Geenwood and Alice Eve.
